In our class this fall we will read and discuss It Can’t Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis and The Plot Against America by Philip Roth.
JAZZ AT NOON

Jazz is a never-ending source of enjoyment. We will combine our lunch with inspiring music.
LAW & ORDER

It is not just a TV crime series; it’s a topic that has galvanized virtually every segment of our society. Black Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, white supremacy, reparations for over 200 years of slavery, statues of Confederate leaders, crime in all its forms.
LITERARY HEROINES

Why have some female characters stayed with us long after the last page? Do we still admire them? We’ll revisit favorite literary characters from our early reading years, for example, Nancy Drew and Scout Finch.
MEXICO: SOUTH OF OUR BORDER

To visit Mexico is to be surrounded by color and music. A fascinating blend of butterflies and beaches, murals and museums, pyramids and ancient temples, Mexico is rich in history, culture, and natural beauty.
MODERN OPERA

At each session, we view a different opera and engage in a lively discussion of the text, staging, medium and score.
MOVERS & SHAKERS

We will examine the lives and accomplishments of outstanding people whose ideas and actions have had a lasting effect on our society, whether for good or evil.
MOZARTS WOMEN

We think of Mozart’s father as the dominant influence in his life, but there’s more to the story.
MUSIC OF THE HEART

Members are invited to submit a piece of music that “speaks to your heart.”
