Courses – Spring 2025 / Art and Music / JAZZ: YESTERDAY AND TODAY
Coordinators: Sol Makon, Debbi Honorof
Jazz emerged in the Afro-American communities of New Orleans, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Diverse musical styles evolved, including ragtime, blues, swing, bebop, cool jazz, free jazz, and more. We will explore both past iconic and contemporary jazz composers, musicians, vocalists, dance artists, and more, who contributed to this distinguished musical genre.
