Courses – Spring 2025 / Literature / GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Coordinators: Lynell Garabedian, Sandy Kessler

Great Expectations is Charles Dickens’s beloved novel of a humble orphan boy who rises to the ranks of high society through the patronage of an unknown benefactor.

Although a well-known story to many, there is still much to explore and discuss about the author’s brilliant depiction of characters, his literary techniques, and universal themes of love, ambition, class conflict, self-knowledge, and personal integrity.

Great Expectations is Dickens’ second-to-last completed novel and considered to be one of his very finest.
