Course Schedule – Spring 2025 / Old Courses / FASCINATING ISLANDS

Coordinators: Stephen Baker, Pete Weis

In this course we will explore some fascinating islands. These are widely scattered throughout the world in oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers as well as scattered in time with references from antiquity to the future.

We will consider factors such as insular governance; island boundaries, including man-made modifications and spontaneous geomorphic reformations; unique island products with a special influence on island life and economy, and islands in which a single animal species is overly persuasive in defining the allocation of settlement and resources.
